Group Health Physicians Has Partnered with Kaiser Permanente in Connection with Kaiser’s Acquisition of Group Health Cooperative

February 20, 2017

Group Health Cooperative (“GHC”) and Kaiser Permanente (“Kaiser”) have completed the transaction in which Kaiser has acquired Seattle-based GHC, a not-for-profit health plan with 590,000 members in Washington State and portions of Idaho.  The combination will advance the growth of the integrated model for healthcare delivery and coverage in Washington and northern Idaho and expand Kaiser’s reach.

In connection with the transaction, Group Health Physicians (“GHP”), a clinician-owned group practice of more than 1,000 providers, has entered into an affiliation with Kaiser to be the exclusive provider of healthcare services to GHC members. Cain Brothers represented GHP in negotiating the terms of the affiliation with Kaiser and assisted in managing a coordinated process with GHC.  GHP remains an independent company after the affiliation.
