MDwise, Sponsored by Indiana University Health and the Health and Hospital Corporation of Marion County, Announced it Has Agreed to be Acquired by McLaren Health Care

MDwise, Inc. (“MDwise”), a leading 501(c)(4) Medicaid HMO that provides managed care solutions exclusively to the residents of Indiana, has agreed to be acquired by McLaren Health Care (“McLaren”). Once the transaction is complete, MDwise and McLaren will collectively serve 620,000+ individuals and produce $6+ billion in annual revenue, making it one of the region’s largest provider-sponsored health plans.
Cain Brothers served as the financial advisor to the sponsoring owners, Indiana University Health and the Health and Hospital Corporation of Marion County, in connection with the transaction.
Headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, MDwise serves over 360,000 individuals as the second largest Medicaid managed care provider in the state, operating in all 92 counties through eight integrated healthcare delivery systems and generating $1.5+ billion in annual revenue.
The transaction, subject to state and federal regulatory review and other closing conditions, is expected to be completed by December 31, 2017.
McLaren, headquartered in Grand Blanc, Michigan, is a fully integrated health network committed to quality, evidence-based patient care and cost efficiency. The system includes 12 hospitals, ASCs, imaging centers, a 450-member primary care physician network, commercial and Medicaid HMOs covering 260,000+ lives (does not include MDwise), home health and hospice providers, retail medical equipment showrooms, pharmacy services, and a medical malpractice insurance company.
