Southern California Orthopedic Institute has affiliated with UCLA Health

June 15, 2019

California Orthopedic Institute (“SCOI”) has completed its strategic alliance with UCLA Health (“UCLA”). The transaction included the sale of majority interests in SCOI’s four ambulatory surgery centers to a joint-venture between UCLA Health and Surgery Partners.  Also, SCOI entered into a professional services agreement as part of UCLA Health’s strategy to develop a clinically integrated network of community providers.  Through the PSA, SCOI will remain independently owned and managed but become integrated into the UCLA Health care delivery network.

Cain Brothers was retained by SCOI as its investment banker to assist SCOI through its partnership search process. Cain Brothers ran a targeted and highly competitive process to identify the optimal partner for SCOI and negotiated the key business terms of the transaction.
